Meet Adam Lilley: Driving Operational Excellence in a Changing Climate

At the helm of C8’s Maintenance & Operations team is Adam Lilley, whose career has been anything but conventional, but is all the better for it.

Adam started out in technical engineering, completing an electrical apprenticeship focused on electrical and refrigeration systems. But his path soon took a turn into finance, where he discovered a passion for software and process automation. That unique blend of hands-on engineering and systems thinking now defines how he approaches operations at C8.

Initially supporting the company through a consultancy business, Adam played a key role in developing the systems that still power C8 today. After joining the business full-time, his focus shifted to refining processes, launching training programs, and embedding standards that drive consistency across projects.

Now, Adam oversees both Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive Maintenance, managing a 20-strong team of engineers. Whether it’s pre-scheduled checks or rapid-response callouts, his mission is to keep commercial infrastructure across Guernsey running at peak performance.

“You wouldn’t skip servicing a car - so why neglect vital systems that keep your business running?” Adam explains.

And with Guernsey facing more frequent extreme weather, that mission now includes real-time adaptation. From urgent HVAC repairs during heatwaves to electrical inspections after storms, Adam’s team is navigating a fast-changing landscape - and staying ahead of the demands it brings.

C8 operates to the industry-recognised SFG20 maintenance standard and continues to evolve through smarter tools, such as predictive scheduling and cloud-based reporting. For Adam, technology is a powerful enabler - but it’s people and process that remain central to success.

“I’m excited by the way technology helps us deliver smarter services – but ultimately, it’s our people and processes that drive results.”

When not improving systems, Adam’s out exploring them - from sailing the coastlines of the Channel Islands to teeing off on the golf course.
